For underwater photographers, it’s one of the most reliable tools for species identification. We use it to turn everyday dives into meaningful biodiversity data.

Our projects

We actively contribute to iNaturalist through two ongoing citizen-science projects focused on documenting marine biodiversity in North Bali. Our observations are openly available to researchers and help build long-term knowledge about the region’s reefs.

How can you help

Log into your account or create a free account on iNaturalist via desktop or mobile app.

In Pemuteran, photograph* anything that swims, crawls, or politely pretends to be a rock.

Upload your photos under Observations. Pin the location where you took them.

Try adding an ID. Even something very general is perfectly fine. The community will know.

A global crowd of marine nerds will get to work and figure out what you’ve found.

Your observation is added to our project and North Bali marine biodiversity research!

*Divers: Good buoyancy comes first. It makes photography easier and protects the reef.
*Snorkelers: Enjoy the reef from a little distance and avoid touching or disturbing marine life.
